What are your classes like?
Our classes are led by native-level speakers and are an immersion experience for both the child and parent/caregiver. Each quarter we explore a series of fun, yet practical themes that are a familiar part of a child's every day life. We integrate music, movement, art and play so that children quickly begin to associate their new sounds and words with familiar objects and activities. They really learn quickly. We encourage parents to let loose and learn along with their children. Both children and parents have fun in our classes and come away each week with a song in their head and new knowledge and material to incorporate into their daily life together.
What is the earliest age I can introduce a foreign language to my child?
As parents, we expose our children to their "mother tongue" in utero without even thinking about it. Second language development in a child can start at any time. Some studies suggest that exposing babies to multiple languages stimulates neurological development. Although it may take months before a child responds to a foreign language, subconscious neurological pathways develop before a child can vocalize and reward you with that exciting moment of uttering a foreign word. For more resources on this subject, check out our Resources page.
How do you help me support my child's budding language skills?
Parents and other caregivers play a significant role in encouraging a child’s foreign language ability. At Polly-Glot Tots, we teach through play, songs, and games. Our instructors provide take home materials to help you reinforce what is learned in class. We also make suggestions for ways to incorporate learning into your everyday life. With regular repetition and practice, and with your support, your child may surprise you with their new ability, much like they already impress you every single day.
What is your sibling policy?
We offer a 10% discount if you enroll more than one child at Polly-Glot Tots -- in the same class or different classes. As a mom-run business we understand the challenges around scheduling classes for siblings of different ages. “Babes in arms” (generally infants under one year of age) are welcome to attend at no cost. Once a sibling is over one year, they will receive the discounted tuition rate.

Do you offer make-ups for missed classes?
Yes. We understand the challenge of keeping babies, toddlers, and preschoolers healthy. We try to offer each language on multiple days and encourage you to make-up a missed class during the same week, if possible. It is accepted and encouraged to make-up a class in a different language if your preferred language class is not available later that week. Please notify us so we may let the instructor know to expect you.
Can I trial a class before committing?
Absolutely. We offer a one-time trial class for families. To request a trial class, please contact us at

What are your refund and cancellation policies?
As parents ourselves, we try to be flexible to meet the changing schedules of families. However, we are also a business that has to commit to pay teachers and rent before the start of a class session.
- Any cancellation must be made in writing (via e-mail).
- There is a non-refundable $25 fee for any cancellations minus the cost for classes attended, except when due to our cancellation of a class.
- We regret that we cannot offer a refund after the second week of classes.
In order to meet our expenses we need eight participants in a class. Polly-Glot Tots reserves the right to combine or cancel a class up to one week before the scheduled start date if there are not enough participants. If this happens, you will receive a full refund.
These policies are spelled out in detail on the registration page and also in the confirmation e-mail you receive once registered.
What is your snow policy?
Polly-Glot Tots follows the snow closure policy of the Seattle Public School District.
If schools are delayed by one or two hours, we will have our classes on time. If schools are closed, we must cancel our classes for that day. We will try to re-schedule, perhaps by extending the quarter by one week. We will make every attempt to e-mail families affected by a closure and will post a notice on the home page of our website.
